How do I install Gizmo5 for mobile phones?
Solution

If you are having difficulty installing Gizmo5 from our site Gizmo5.com this article is for you. These steps are available to assist you in installing Gizmo5 on your phone.

Please note that due to the many variants of phone and provider combinations, there is a possibility that this application may not work on your phone or may require a different process to install on your phone. If you find this is the case, please send us a trouble ticket with any errors that you find. Some phones/providers may not support Gizmo5 or Java based applications in general.

Gizmo5 requires your phone to support Java. Some phones, such as the Motorola Q (MotoQ) and Pocket PC phones, may require you to install a 3rd party Java emulator. Other phones may not support Java applications at all. Please check with your service provider, or see you phone's manual, to determine whether your phone supports Java. If so, we recommend you download and install IBM's Websphere J9 Java emulator before installing Gizmo5 on your phone.

If you do find that your phone can install Java applications right out of the box, their is more than one way to install Gizmo5. However it is recommended that you install Gizmo5 Over-The-Air or OTA which is usually the quickest and easiest method. Just point your phones browser to Gizmo5.com and select your device to download the appropriate file. If your device is not listed, select the last option which is "All Phones", "All Models". After downloading successfully, you should get a prompt for install and continue.

Alternatively some devices may have a special Java Application loader. If you open the loader and find an OTA method available, select it and enter one of the following URLs for the version that you would like specifically. Try the .Jad first and if that does not work try the .Jar.

If you were unable to install in these methods, ultimately the goal is to get the .jad or the .jar file on your phone so you can try one of these alternate methods as well. You will need to experiment because as stated before, each phone/provider combination will have a different way of managing applications due to the different firmwares each provider may have on that phone. The alternate methods are as follows and as available to your case. Once on your device you should be able to open the file and get the installation started.

  • Sync or Upload from your PC
  • Send via Bluetooth or Data Cable
  • Send via Email or SMS
  • Send via mini SD or other external memory
